Day One:

MORNING

Module: Basic Concepts
Materials Covered: Introduction to multidimensional databases; a "familiar" view (from within Excel); the dynamic PowerOLAP-Excel connection; instantaneous updating of data and charts; PowerOLAP (PO) components-members, dimensions, cubes; manipulating PO data; creating a "slice worksheet"; entering data via Excel or PO; simple cube creation.

AFTERNOON

Module: Basic Reporting
Materials Covered: Dynamic reporting with PO; creating financial statements - income statement and balance sheet; creating a variance report; signal lights with conditional formatting; PO worksheet functions.

Day Two:

MORNING

Module: Importing and Exporting
Materials Covered: Review of PO capabilities and purposes for importing and exporting text files and from Excel; exporting meta data from a database and fact data from a slice; importing data from text file and Excel; import scripts.

AFTERNOON

Module: Intermediate Reporting
Materials Covered: Accessing PO worksheet functions; creating a file documenter; using a Budget Template for changing budget assumptions; using formulas to calculate complex growth; "what-if" assumptions; variance analysis and PO; revising forecasts via PO and Excel.

Day Three:

MORNING

Module: Cube-based Formulas
Materials Covered: Using formulas to reflect current condition/meet challenges; formula syntax/operators; internal and cross-cube formulas; formula examples, including adding a ratio cube, calculating margin %; transferring closing balances to opening balances, and currency conversions.

AFTERNOON

Module: Advanced Reporting
Materials Covered: Using Visual Basic features to create reports; the ReportTools add-in; contracting and expanding account dimensions; horizontal and vertical outlining; creating combo boxes; zero-suppression and variable-length reports; using PO constraints; using the Excel Data Filter feature; creating batch reports; parametric programming; printing loops.

Day Four:

MORNING

Module: PowerOLAP Server
Materials Covered: Requirements/installation; operation of the Service Control Program; configuring Exchange Services; working in client/server mode; sharing multidimensional data. Setting up security; defining read/write/lock privileges.

AFTERNOON

Module: Synchronization Server
Materials Covered: Setup and administration of Synchronization Server; "mobile/unplugged" users; synchronizing through relational tables. Backup practices and troubleshooting server problems.

Day Five:

MORNING

Module: Data Integration with OLAP Exchange
Materials Covered: Introduction to OLAP Exchange; identifying multidimensional content in relational data; using Microsoft Access; accessing data sources via ODBC; viewing and formatting raw data; time/date conversion and other field processing; creating cubes.

AFTERNOON

Module: Data Integration with OLAP Exchange
Materials Covered: Updating Actuals; dimension maintenance; exporting data; zeroing areas of a cube; setting up drill-through.

Materials Covered: Product presentation and demonstration; target market size and scope; positioning and the Business Operating System; marketing strategy and programs; PARIS Technologies corporate background; pricing; competitive issues; marketing materials.
