With the release of PowerOLAP Version 8.0, we at PARIS have renewed our commitment to innovation. We've developed a revolutionary Internet Data Services technique which can quickly, conservatively, and effectively distribute data and processing across multiple servers, even in multiple locations. In addition to IDS, we've also enhanced many of the existing PowerOLAP processes: OLAP Exchange, OLAP Services, and Transfer Cube, to better suit our user's needs. The cherry on top is that we've added a Scheduler, just to make your life that much easier. Below are some benefits we've associated with PowerOLAP Version 8.0:
Unparalleled support for synchronization of internet data.
Integrates easily with Excel’s pivot-table functionality—a favorite of seasoned Excel users.
Instant access to data via a standard web browser.
Integration with Analysis Services is more flexible and powerful than ever before.
Distribute calculation processing between multiple machines.
Perform “what-if” scenarios without impacting the performance of other users and distribute meta-data changes to remote databases.
Accumulate metadata changes made by remote users.
Synchronize fact data changes between cubes with different dimensionality.
A comprehensive, five-day technical training course for resellers and end users. In addition to the base course, a two-hour sales training module is offered for resellers only. This course is a prerequisite for all other courses offered by PARIS Technologies Inc.
Course Hours: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM daily
Course Days: Weeks of Sept. 15th & Oct. 13th
Cost: $2,975.00
IDS allows for the widespread deployment of the PowerOLAP solution to multiple, dispersed locations across the Web. The WEB interface provides easy access to PowerOLAP data via a standard WEB browser, taking advantage of PowerOLAP being an HTTP Server. To access the feature, users simply launch a WEB browser and enter the Name or IP Address of the machine running the PowerOLAP MDB server.
The IDS feature supports the synchronization of databases over the internet. This includes all data modifications that might be made on either end of the connection. PowerOLAP data in IDS also integrates easily with Excel’s pivot-table functionality—a favorite of many a seasoned Excel user. The PowerOLAP analytical super engine, coupled with the muscle of the new IDS, gives all users freedom and flexibility to use their data at their convenience any time, anywhere.
IDS can be used in any combination for the following:
IDS requires the PowerOLAP MDB server with HTTP enabled and that the client license supports IDS. Using IDS involves configuring and executing IDS tasks. The task is saved in the current database and can even be scheduled using the new Scheduler feature.
The new Scheduler can Add, Edit, and Delete Tasks for scheduled execution. Also new, Notifications provide feedback based on the execution of jobs.
Tasks that can be Scheduled:
The features to transfer, export, and clear cubes have existed since early versions of PowerOLAP. In version 8, we’ve enhanced functionality by extending the available options, simplifying the interface, and allowing users to save configurations as saved tasks. Tasks can be executed directly by any Administrative user or via the scheduling application. You can now add, edit, delete and execute for any of these functions: Transfer Cube, Export Cube, and Clear Cube.
Enhancements have been added to the PowerOLAP Services feature that makes the integration with Analysis Services more flexible and more powerful. PowerOLAP now supports Analysis Services 2000 and 2005.
Rebuild Cube (Process Cube)
Several enhancements have been made to the processing of OLAP Exchange’s Rebuild Cube feature. First, the Rebuild Cube and Update Cube menus have been merged into a single menu called Process Cube. The Process Cube Dialog now has several new options for rebuilding cubes.
